"Straight Outta Hunters Point' the acclaimed and much traveled
documentary film by award-winning filmmaker Kevin Epps continues to
screen at various venues, and has remained a topic of discussions and
forums around the myriad of issues that it brings to light.
The film has been recognized for providing tremendous insight into issues
around Bayview-Hunters Point that have dominated the headlines over the past few years.
Epps documentary provides an inside view into the neighborhood where convergent headlines abound including redevelopement, uncleaned superfund sites, the 49er Football stadium, social, economic,environmental, and gang violence issues.
All as relevant today as when the film premiered in 2003 it has resonated with many audiences and transended bondaries. Audiences of all ages respond again & again to it's stunning & straight forward view with a hardcore hip hop soundtrack that mirrors the colorful street life in this vibrant, but undoubtedly endangered community.
